There’s a paradox in AI product management: usually, the extra spectacular the potential, the extra constrained the product needs to be at launch.
Why? As a result of the price of overpromising is excessive — particularly in fields like autonomy, healthcare, or finance. Once I was engaged on autonomous automobiles, that meant rigorously selecting what to show, learn how to talk it, and the place to attract the road.
Now, even when engaged on extra consumer-facing ML techniques, I take that pondering with me. A well-scoped AI product — with guardrails, fallback modes, and clear UX alerts — builds belief sooner than a flashy demo.
