    OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: AI Agents Are Like Junior Employees

    OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says that firms are utilizing AI agents (applications that run autonomously to carry out advanced duties) as in the event that they had been junior employees.

    In the meantime, a report last month from enterprise capital agency SignalFire discovered that AI has already led to a 25% lower in entry-level hires from 2023 to 2024 at Meta, Microsoft, and Google. SignalFire’s head of analysis, Asher Bantock, advised TechCrunch that AI was responsible for the decline in entry-level tech roles, because it takes over extra routine duties usually carried out by junior workers.

    At consulting agency McKinsey, AI is performing duties normally reserved for junior workers, like creating PowerPoint displays and drafting proposals. McKinsey wrote in July 2024 that AI might exchange up to 375 million jobs by 2030.

    Different trade leaders have daring predictions about how rapidly AI will take over entry-level jobs. Dario Amodei, 42, the CEO of the $61.5 billion firm Anthropic, told Axios last week that AI might get rid of half of all entry-level white-collar jobs throughout the subsequent one to 5 years, inflicting unemployment to rise as excessive as 20%.
